Event Details

Despite the fact that enough food is produced to feed twice the world’s population, more than 842 million people are chronically hungry. Hungry4Change is a hunger banquet intended to dramatize this inequitable distribution of food and resources in today’s world.

HUNGRY4CHANGE

On 10 February 2009, Oxfam UBC will be hosting Hungry4Change, a semi-formal dinner complete with live music, a silent auction and thought-provoking guest speakers that will explore the issues surrounding global food insecurity.

This is an event aimed at gathering the Greater Vancouver community for a meal where every bite matters – a meal that will leave you hungry for change.

Please join us for this evening of food, music, a silent auction and, above all, thought

All proceeds to Oxfam Canada.

10 FEBRUARY 2009

DOORS OPEN AT 6 PM  -  DINNER BEGINS AT 7 PM

His work has been featured on a Canadian television documentary series, The Global Villagers. In 2007, he was nominated for the UBC Killam Teaching Prize. In 2008, he received the Peter Wall for Advanced Studies Early Career Scholar Award.  His research focuses on how health professions education can best prepare future practitioners to make judgments that are not only technically sound but also ethically and socially responsible.

OXFAM UBC

Powered by a diverse group of UBC students, Oxfam UBC is committed to developing innovative ways to support Oxfam Canada's important aid and relief work both in Canada and overseas, and to raising awareness of global poverty. We act locally, helping to create UBC's Ethical Purchasing Policy Committee, which draws together representatives from the AMS, the administration, and Oxfam Canada, and is committed to the goal of a "No Sweat" campus. We also foster partnerships to host exciting events such as fundraiser film nights, concerts, rallies, Uneven Playing Field soccer games, and workshops.

OXFAM CANADA

Oxfam Canada is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building lasting solutions to global poverty and injustice. We work with allies in Canada and around the world to change the policies and practices that perpetuate human suffering. We support organizations in poor communities overseas in their struggle to secure basic rights. Oxfam's advocacy and campaigns for just policies are rooted in the knowledge and experience gained in that struggle.
